Giving Children the Best Start

The first years of a child’s life shape their future health, wellbeing, learning and life chances. At Riverside Community Health Project, we’re committed to ensuring every child has the best possible start, whatever their circumstances.

Our Children and Families Impact Report 2025-26 shares how we’re supporting families across Newcastle’s West End through evidence-informed early years activities, practical support and trusted relationships within our Community Family Hub.

In 2025-26 we:

  • Supported 481 children aged 0-5 and 709 parents and carers.
  • Delivered 186 early years sessions and 15 community family events with 7052 attendances at our activities.
  • Worked with families from 18+ different ethnic communities.
  • Reached families experiencing some of the highest levels of deprivation in England.

Families told us that Riverside helped them feel happier, more confident and better connected, while strengthening relationships with their children and supporting their development during the crucial first years of life.

The report brings together the voices of families, evidence of impact and real-life stories that show how early intervention and community support are helping children and families thrive.
