P had been coming to Riverside to attend different early years sessions with her child. She talked to our staff about being put under pressure from Universal Credit to find employment when her child was moving into part-time school.
P stated she was nervous and anxious about accessing the job market after having been away from paid work for 4 years. P engaged with our Training and Volunteer Project and was supported by staff to access a Teaching Assistant and employability course.
P then registered as a volunteer with Riverside. She supported children and family team members delivering our Early Years sessions. This enabled P to gain experience along with her Teaching Assistant course. Team members support P to produce a CV, apply for jobs and prepare for interviews.
This encouraged P and boosted her confidence. She went on to actively look for part-time employment and has since gained part-time employment in a local school.
