When K first visited Riverside, she told us she was unhappy and worried because her husband left her to return to his home country. She remained in England with her children, two of whom have long-term health issues.
The main support we initially offered K was to guide her through the EU Settlement Scheme process. We also supported her with other welfare matters important to her and her children; GP registration, Universal Credit claim, PIP and housing application.
K started attending one of our Women’s Groups. In the group she has been focusing on the future, including exploring work possibilities. She has told us that through this women’s group she has found a new connection with other women from her country which stops her from feeling isolated.
K has Settled Status now. She says her English language has improved and she now feels confident enough to ask for help and to attend health appointments with her children. K recently fed back she is grateful for our support and for the fact she didn’t have to give up and travel back to her country.
