Children and Family Support

We facilitate groups for children and parents, and various forms of family support.

Toddle Time 2

Up to 12 months – Baby Massage: This is a lovely way to enjoy time with your baby. Baby massage provides both parent and baby with a number of different benefits, including boosting the immune system, better sleep, relieving colic/constipation symptoms and is relaxing for both caregiver and baby.

– Up to 12 months- Baby Social: This session provides opportunity for parents/carers to discover and learn with their baby and build secure attachment. We provide activities that encourage parents/carers to engage in floor-based play.

– 1-3 years- Toddle Time: Each week, we provide activities that promote your children’s physical development. Children have the opportunity to explore their own interests safely, both indoors and outdoors.

– 6 months-4 years- Breakfast Stay and Play: Each week, we provide a healthy breakfast and support parents/carers with nutritious low-cost recipe ideas. Children have the opportunity to explore indoor and outdoor areas and are encouraged to sit at the breakfast table, in preparation for starting nursery.

– Under 2 years- Boogie Bairns: This is a sensory based, musical play session with a disco theme. This session helps support early communication and language skills.

– Up to 2 years- First Words Together: Enjoy exploring rhymes, stories and games to play with your child, once a week, for five weeks. Each week you will receive a book to build your own mini library at home.

– Up to 19 years- Early intervention for families and individuals who are in need of support.

– Summer Activities – Look out for what’s on offer each summer. Activities include day trips, family fun days and family sessions.

Crèche

Our crèche enables parents to take part in activities such as training while their children benefit from quality activities that promote development.

Please talk to us about what you need as the crèche needs to be planned in advance. We are unable to provide crèche places for children absent from school.

Carnegie Community Hub

Carnegie Building is a Children and Families Newcastle Community Hub. This means many practitioners and organisations that are part of Children and Families Newcastle come to Carnegie Building to meet with families from the local community. For example, there is a weekly Well Baby and Family Drop In staffed by a mixture of practitioners from the NHS, Riverside and other local community organisations.
