Digital Everyday

Digital Everyday Logo

Digital Everyday is a new digital inclusion project funded by Virgin Money Foundation, designed to help residents improve their digital confidence, access online services and make the most of the opportunities that technology can offer.

Many everyday activities now require digital skills, from booking appointments and accessing benefits to staying in touch with family and friends. Digital Everyday aims to support residents who may lack confidence, access to devices or internet connectivity.

Our approach focuses on building confidence and independence through personalised support, helping residents develop the skills they need to access services, opportunities and information online,

Digital Drop-Ins

Need help with an everyday digital task? Come along to our free weekly Digital Drop-In for friendly, practical support. Everyone is welcome and no appointment is needed.

Our Digital Buddies can support you with:

  • Smartphones and tablets – using apps, settings, calls, photos and more
  • NHS App and GP appointments – accessing the NHS App, booking appointments and ordering prescriptions
  • School apps and online forms – using school portals and apps, completing forms and accessing messages
  • Email and online accounts – setting up email, sending attachments and managing accounts
  • Staying safe online – practical tips to help protect yourself and your information
  • Accessing services online – including housing, council and benefits services

You can bring your own phone, tablet or laptop. We’ll work alongside you so you can build your skills and confidence and become more independent with everyday digital tasks.

Every Monday, 9.30am–11.00am

Digital Buddies

Our Digital Buddies are trained staff and volunteers who can provide friendly, basic digital support as part of our everyday services.

They can help with things such as:

  • Using a smartphone, tablet or laptop
  • Getting online and connecting to Wi-Fi
  • Setting up and accessing email
  • Downloading and using apps
  • Creating and accessing online accounts
  • Resetting or changing passwords
  • Completing online forms
  • Accessing online services
  • Staying safe and confident online

Digital Buddies are not IT technicians and cannot repair devices, but they can help you understand how to use your device and signpost you to further support where needed.

Interested in becoming a Digital Buddy?

We are also looking for volunteers who would like to help other people develop their digital skills and confidence.

Digital Buddy volunteers receive training and ongoing support and can get involved in our Digital Drop-Ins and other Digital Everyday activities.

You don’t need to be an IT expert. Being patient, approachable and willing to help someone learn is just as important.

Data & Device Support

Not having a suitable device or enough mobile data can make it difficult to access essential online services.

Through Digital Everyday, eligible Riverside residents may be able to access:

  • Device loans to help them practise digital skills and get online at home
  • Free mobile data through our connectivity support
  • Support to set up and confidently use a loaned device
  • Ongoing Digital Buddy and Drop-In support throughout their digital journey

Device loans are part of a supported programme rather than a standalone equipment service. Residents will need to register with Digital Everyday and engage with our digital support before a device can be issued. Device availability and eligibility criteria apply.
