Could you help shape a healthier, stronger West Newcastle?
At Riverside Community Health Project, we work alongside local people every day to improve health, reduce isolation and support families to thrive.
From our base in the Carnegie Building in West Newcastle, we welcomed over 9,000 visits last year—supporting people to navigate challenges, build confidence and create positive change in their lives.
We’re now looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help guide Riverside through its next phase.
Why this role matters now
Demand for Riverside’s support continues to grow, alongside increasing pressures facing our community—from poverty and health inequalities to digital exclusion and isolation.
At the same time, we are:
- Strengthening our role as a community hub
- Expanding partnerships with other organisations
- Developing sustainable income to support our long-term future
Trustees play a vital role in helping us navigate these challenges and opportunities, ensuring Riverside remains strong, responsive and rooted in the community.
What you’ll bring
You don’t need previous trustee experience. We’re looking for people who:
- Care about communities and reducing inequalities
- Can think strategically, contribute to decision-making and offer constructive support and challenge
We’re particularly interested in skills in health, fundraising, HR, property, marketing or law but we are also open to applications from people who bring a variety of skills and experience to support our work. We strongly welcome applications from local people, younger applicants and those with lived experience.
What you’ll gain
- The opportunity to make a meaningful difference locally
- Experience of charity governance and leadership
- Insight into a respected, place-based organisation
- Being part of a supportive and purpose-driven Board
What’s involved
- Board meetings 6 times a year (approx. 90 minutes, online or in person)
This is a voluntary role, with induction, training and expenses provided.
