To be relevant to residents in local communities we need to know the communities we are working in. Riverside has been talking with people about how they feel about where they live and these conversations have been really helpful to us as we plan for the future.
We wanted to find out more about research that has already been done in, about and with people in the West End of Newcastle. We felt this could help all local organisations, not just Riverside, to reflect on the needs of people in West End communities and the strengths they have as communities.
We asked the Social Justice Advisory Group at Newcastle University for a small grant to commission Suzanne Butler to carry this study out for us. We were delighted when the grant was awarded. Suzanne carried out this work and several organisations provided some of their reports and research to help in the task. We thank them all.
