We’re celebrating today after being awarded £239,479 in National Lottery funding to support our new Community Action on Need (CAN) project.
Since 1980, we have been dedicated to making Newcastle’s West End a healthy, thriving community. The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund—the UK’s largest community funder—will mean Riverside can launch a new project that brings local people together to tackle the important issues in their local community. This project builds on Riverside’s strong history of being community-driven, ensuring local voices shape its work.
Kate Mukungu, former Chief Executive of Riverside Community Health Project, who led the successful funding bid, said:
“We couldn’t be happier that The National Lottery Community Fund has chosen to support the CAN project. The project aims to bring people together, improve lives, and empowers individuals to reach their full potential and aligns perfectly with the Lottery Fund’s new UK-wide strategy, It Starts With Community.”
Lou Horsefield, Chief Executive of Riverside Community Health Project, added:
“Our vision is to start where the community is and move forward together. It won’t be easy, but we are absolutely sure it will be worthwhile, and we’re excited to get started.”
