Trustees are generally very special people and that is certainly the case at Riverside. Our Trustees lead Riverside as volunteers. They do this by asking important questions and making decisions to make sure the work Riverside does is in line with our mission, is done well and with honesty and serves the best interests of the people in the community. If this seems like something you could and would like to do, we really want to hear from you.
Your commitment will include attending regular board meetings in person or online (at present every six weeks on Thursdays from 4pm to 5.30pm) occasional away day sessions, or other special meetings. You will be expected to read papers in advance to ensure you can contribute to making good decisions. In return you will get an opportunity to develop in a leadership role, will be supported with a comprehensive induction and relevant training and will be reimbursed for reasonable out of pocket expenses.
Applicants are welcome from all backgrounds, so long as you have a commitment to supporting people in the West End of Newcastle. We would welcome applications from young people and people from ethnically marginalised communities, which are currently under-represented on the board. Whilst not essential, people with expertise in areas such as community development, finance, funding, property management, human resource management, marketing, or law are encouraged to apply.
To arrange a discussion and get details of how to apply before noon on 8th November, please email Chief Executive, Kate Mukungu: kate@riversidechp.org.uk
