Residents Help Riverside Plan for the Future

On 24th and 28th April Riverside facilitated conversations with people in the community.  Trustees and staff at Riverside have been meeting for several months now to talk about our shared future.  We have been exploring how we can best support people in the community and facilitate opportunities that help local people to improve their lives and health.  An important part of this strategic planning is having conversations with residents to hear and understand their perspectives.

After a shared meal we asked key questions from the participants, such as;

    • What does a good community look like?
    • What good stuff is already in the community?
    • What needs to be developed?

The different perspectives shared with us give us good reason to reflect. For example, how do we balance support for families, a big part of our work, with support for people who may be experiencing isolation?  How do we balance organising activities for people with giving space and support to people in the community to organise more for themselves?  We are going to take time work through these important questions.  Thank you so much to everyone who came along.

As well as having these important conversations, we have also been gathering different community reports and research about the West End.  Some other community organisations have shared these with us .  Our goal is to pull together different insights community organisations and researchers already have so we can share them out.  We hope this will enable us to learn together about how best to respond to the wonderful diverse West End community in which we work.  We will post further updates when we have more to share.
